Homelessness Concerns
Let’s TalkIssue's
Homelessness is one of the most visible and complex challenges facing our communities, but it is not unsolvable. Behind every person experiencing homelessness is a story shaped by rising housing costs, health challenges, job loss, trauma, or systemic barriers. Addressing homelessness requires compassion, consistency, and long-term commitment—not temporary fixes or short-term displacement.
Hoang has been deeply engaged in this work, serving on the Geraldine E. King Women’s Center since its inception in 2019. This experience has reinforced a clear truth: meaningful progress happens when we treat housing as a foundation, not a reward. People experiencing homelessness deserve dignity, stability, and pathways to rebuild their lives—not cycles of emergency response that fail to address root causes.
Permanent solutions require meeting people where they are and providing support that extends beyond a roof. A housing-first approach, paired with wrap-around services such as mental health care, substance use treatment, job support, and case management, creates stability that allows individuals to heal and move forward. When people have safe, stable housing, they are far more likely to access services, maintain employment, and re-engage with their communities.
Our PlanOur solution
Ending homelessness requires more than good intentions—it requires coordinated action, sustained investment, and policies grounded in evidence and experience. The following plans and solutions focus on long-term stability rather than temporary relief. They prioritize housing as the first step, not the last, and recognize that supportive services are essential to lasting success.
These solutions are designed to reduce chronic homelessness, improve public safety, and ensure resources are used effectively. By centering people, accountability, and collaboration, this approach works toward outcomes that are measurable, compassionate, and durable—benefiting both individuals and the broader community.
